My first NFT Drop

NFT’s are not just a big trend. They have value even when they are seen critical. The fact, that it’s possible to still hold the physical item but still can create value is something unique and was never possible in history.

You can read the Blogpost over here:

First of all..

I am not a financial expert in crypto now, because I launched my first NFT. Actually the really first minting on solsea.io was a mess, cause I wasn’t sure how to price it right. So I listed it, to put it afterwards straight back to my wallet :-D. I also realized that it made more sense to put it on vault.fan or fanfare, since it is a Music NFT. So, try and error. The only way to progress 🙂

What are NFT’s?

A NFT is a Non-Fungable-Token. Which means it is a unique Token with a code that includes a smart contract to serve certain benefits, a sourcelink, a message, musicrights, etc. Check it out on this Portfolio:

NFT’s give power to the people

I think NFT’s are incredible for artists, because as an artist you simply get the power back into your hands. You can build everything by yourself without third parties trying to rule your art or sales. Sure, not every NFT will be successful.

But I still think, even the journey to start with a vision in your head is worth starting :-).

It has a little bit the touch of the Renaisance Age :-).

As an artist so you can still own your artwork/music even physically and still sell it. Isn’t that incredible? You can pass the physical item to an institution, a non-profit-organization, your kids, grandkids, people you love and they can benefit from it as well and keep your conscious heritage alive. Okay, okay, not all NFT’s will be conscious :-D.

Why NFT’s will be the future?

They will be the future simply because there is no better way to create a digital asset. Everything will definetly turn into a NFT one day like contracts with the Governments, general laws, different forms of laws and environmental rules, etc. The possiblity to code a smart contract into your NFT, which can serve certain benefits or rights for the customers, are also a good base to keep the dialog about „the token“ alive. From Hamurabi to Coderabi. Okay, it’s not funny, I’ll get it :-).

Where to start with NFT’s

This is what I asked myself

which blockchain fits my needs?

which network is positive and all about building and maybe not too elite. I think those are the ones where you get your best advices from on discord. The first Blockchains that „popped in my spirit“ were Avalanche, Solana and surely Etherum. What stopped me with Etherum on opensea were the expensive gas fees. Sure you have the possibility to put it for free on Polygon, but I saw in some videos that the codes don’t bring you anywhere when you minted your NFT with third part tools to create the Code. So I decided to put my first Artwork on a Solana based platform called vault.fan. I simply like Solana because the idea to make it open to everyone is something I really felt down in my „working class kid heart“:-).

Where do I get the most valuable information from?

So I watched tons of videos on youtube to understand this whole movement. I will create another post about my favorite channels as well soon :-). Adrian found some scientifical books, but I felt, they were too complicated, to be honest since I am starting from scratch.

What to do when I get frustrated?

Sure it feels like, when your not a hacker or already a superfamous artist, or someone biting ideas from other great artists, your actually not really a part of the community. That’s the truth. From toy to master once again. I feel like it is kinda hard to get there, even with discord and stuff. Maybe I have to dive deeper into it. It will be more accessible for everyone some day, i am sure.

So the first steps to create a NFT can be:

  • chose a plattform like solsea.io, opensea.io, ….(now you can mint even NFT’s for free on the Polygon Network in opensea, just to mention that)
  • create a wallet that fits to your choosen blockchain like metamask, phantom, etc.)
  • create a whitepaper, that the audience knows what to expect (that’s what I am working on right now :-D)

Positive Sites of NFT’s:

  • no need for labels to promote your artwork and music
  • endlessly real personal exchange possible with your fans & supporters
  • the original artwork can be wherever, it doesn’t change the value

Negative Sites of NFT’s:

  • Tons of Scam right now, since the developement takes time

I mean even with a whole bunch of hackers trying to build these Networks, it still needs time. Can you believe that the Internet wouldn’t be were it turned out to be without the free effort of hackers that had a vision? It wasn’t the big companies that developed all this, it was the opensource community.

  • It’s easy for „crackers“ to steal from your wallets, especially with a bridge
  • It needs in general more progress to evaluate

Overview

I hardly recomend every artist to get on a blockchain and create a NFT as soon as possible and get into the whole theme. I am still wondering why patreon haven’t got into it. Web2.0 will be gone soon and the more information you have about an upcoming system, the easier and better it is to build something in the new system. Web3.0 is the future which we can’t deny anymore. Just like cryptocurrency.

Here is my first NFT Drop on vault.fan based on the Solana chain 🙂

  • Access new Music before Release
  • Access to unreleased Demos
  • Free download of music and artwork
